Abstract
French novelist Edouard Estaunie, popular in his country in the 1920s, is still of interest today. His career began with highly naturalistic novels, but by the end of his life, he was writing spiritual or metaphysical works. The author shows examples of these themes in Estaunie's writings, demonstrating that Estaunie's writings do showcase a change from emphasizing determinism to individual agency.
