Abstract
Lope de Vega, Cervantes, Quevedo, Calderón de la Barca, and Guillén de Castro, among other great writers, artists, and poets, all took part in the academias of the Spanish Golden Age. The article traces the Italian, Arabic, and Jesuit influences on these academies and attributes the richness of the art and poetry of the Golden Age to the perfect blending of these traditions.
