Abstract
Leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have briefly discussed the importance of music in the Church's worship and culture. However, Latter-day Saint music educators are left wondering how they can most effectively help the Church reach its musical potential. This article focuses on recreational music and music education in Church history in order to better understand music's role in God's plan of happiness for his children.
