Knowledge Based Environmental Data Validation

This work describes EcoExpert, a knowledge–based module supporting data validation and integratedinto a system for environmental data management. The paper describes the integration of knowledge–based system technology and data monitoring networks for environment management purposes by means ofinfluence graphs. EcoExpert has been designed to communicate directly with the air quality monitoring networkmanaged by a Pilot Operating Unit. It is considered an example for achieving an integrated environmentmanagement system using knowledge–based technology and qualitative reasoning techniques to solveproblems involving data validation, intelligent alarms filtering, network diagnosis, network configuration andmaintenance scheduling.
