A Latter-Day Saint Home Education: Passing on a Goodly Heritage

A. Jane Birch

Abstract

This dissertation is an investigation into education from one Latter-day Saint's perspective. It is an examination of the meaning of passing on a goodly heritage in the context of the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is an exploration of what it means for parents to try to provide a home where children can receive the education they need to fulfill their missions on this earth and return to live with God. The purposes are to enable readers to deepen their understanding of the meaning and purpose of education, to encourage them to take more responsibility for their own and their children's learning, and to invite them to turn to the Lord and take more fully the Spirit of Christ as their guide in all learning and teaching, knowing that "in Christ there should come every good thing" (Moroni 7:22).
